Sometimes you want to check how new content looks before it becomes visible to all community members.
In Dialogue, the ‘Save and preview’ button does not provide a working preview. There are two simple ways to safely test content before making it live.
Option 1: Temporarily hide the page from members
Each page in Dialogue has visibility settings that determine which roles can access the page. You can find this setting per page under ‘Roles with private access’. The available roles are:
- Administrator
- Community member
- Observer
- Moderator
Do you want to test content without community members seeing it right away? Follow these steps:
- Open the page you want to edit;
- Go to ‘Roles with private access’;
- Temporarily disable ‘Community member’;
- Save the page;
The page is now no longer visible to community members, but remains accessible to administrators and other selected roles. You can now calmly add and review new content.
Happy with the result?
- Enable ‘Community member’ again and save the page.
The page will then become visible to community members again with the new content.
Option 2: Create a hidden test page
Another convenient way to test content is by creating a separate page that you use exclusively as a test environment. Right‑click the three dots next to the home node and select ‘Create’. For example, name this page ‘Test’.
- Hide the page from the menu by enabling ‘Hide this page from the menu’. This ensures the page does not appear in the community website menu and cannot be easily found by members;
- Anyone with the direct URL can open and view the page. You can find this link by clicking the information icon in the top right of Dialogue;
- Add the desired content to the test page;
- Once you are satisfied, you can copy the content to the final live page.
This allows you to fully prepare new content without having to adjust existing pages.
