By default, members have access to all subcommunities/sub-panels within the environment. Members can use the same login credentials to access all subcommunities. A member who already has an “Active” account in, for example, subcommunity 1 can also log in directly to subcommunity 2.
When do members need to register first?
Members cannot log in directly if, in Dialogue, the following settings are active at the home node of the subcommunity:
- ‘Only register after survey’ is enabled
- ‘Registration survey’: the subcommunity’s registration questionnaire is selected
In this case, a member who already has an account in subcommunity 1 cannot log in directly to subcommunity 2. With these settings, you require members to first complete the subcommunity’s registration questionnaire before gaining access.
What happens if a member tries to log in directly?
If the settings above are active and an existing member tries to log in to the subcommunity using credentials from another community:
- the login is not accepted and the member receives the message “Your username or password is invalid”;
- no account is created in Community for the subcommunity.
Using “Forgot password” will also not grant access to the subcommunity. The member will receive an email to reset the password, but this only changes the password of the community where the member already had an account.
How does a member gain access to the subcommunity?
The member must first register via the subcommunity’s registration questionnaire. Share the link to the questionnaire with the member.
During this registration:
- existing profile variables are automatically pre-filled in the questionnaire;
- after completing the questionnaire, the member can log in directly using the same credentials as for subcommunity 1;
- after login, an “Active” member account is created in Community for the subcommunity.
